This 48V version of the Smart BatteryProtect 100A protects the battery from excessive discharge and can be used as an on / off switch system. For this 100A model, the maximum continuous current is 100A and the peak current (for 30 seconds) is 250A with an operating voltage range of 24 – 70V. The battery is disconnected from non-essential loads before the battery is fully discharged (which would damage the battery) or before there is insufficient power left to start the engine. The input / output can be used as an on / off switch system.
Bluetooth: simple programming
When using Bluetooth to program the Smart BatteryProtect, all required power on / off levels can be set. Alternatively, one of the nine predefined start / stop levels can be set with the programming pin (see manual). If necessary, Bluetooth can be turned off.
A special setting for lithium-ion batteries
In this mode, the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Note: The BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge interrupter between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See connection diagram in the manual.
Super low power consumption
This is important in the case of lithium ion batteries, especially after a low voltage shutdown. See our Li-ion battery datasheet and VE.Bus BMS manual for more information.
Overvoltage protection
In order to prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected as soon as the DC voltage exceeds 16V and 32V respectively.
Protected against ignition
No relays, but MOSFET switches and therefore no sparks.
Delayed alarm output
The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage falls below the preset disconnect level for more than 12 seconds. Therefore, starting the engine does not trigger the alarm. The alarm output is an open collector short circuit proof output connected to the negative (min) rail, max current 50mA. The alarm output is generally used to activate the buzzer, an LED or relay.
Delayed load disconnect and delayed reconnection
The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the battery voltage has fallen below the preset level. If the battery voltage rises back to the clutch threshold within this time frame (after starting the engine, for example), the load will not be disconnected. The load will be reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has risen to more than the preset reconnect voltage.
