The Cyrix automatically switches the connected batteries or battery banks in parallel when one of the batteries has reached the preset voltage and is disconnected when the voltage falls below the trickle charge level. The Cyrix is a good alternative to a diode load current distributor with the great advantage that the voltage loss is practically zero, so that the output voltage does not have to be increased.
Battery voltage monitoring
Some battery separators disconnect a battery in case of short, but high, amperage. Also, a large, uncharged battery bank sometimes fails to connect because the DC voltage immediately drops below the disconnect value. The Cyrix’s software does more than just link and unlink, it looks at the general trend and only adjusts the most recently performed action if the trend changes.
LED status indication
The LED can indicate several things:
LED on – linked
LED lights up for 10 sec – disconnected
LED lights up for 2 sec – connection is being established
LED flashes every 2 sec – connection is lost
LED flashes every 0.25 sec – alarm
Bidirectional voltage measurement
The Cyrix measures the voltage of both connected batteries and as a result the batteries are also connected in parallel. The Cyrix has a double power supply and this ensures that the Cyrix closes if the voltage of one battery is too low to operate the Cyrix.
